Drag-and-Drop Upload

You can add documents to Essal Office by dragging files from your desktop or file manager and dropping them anywhere in the app. This is often the fastest way to upload a batch of files without using the file picker.

How to Drag and Drop

  1. Open Essal Office in your browser
  2. Open your file manager or desktop alongside it
  3. Select one or more files you want to upload
  4. Drag them into the Essal Office browser window and release

The drop is recognized anywhere on the page — you don't need to find a specific drop zone. As soon as you drag a file into the window, Essal Office highlights the valid drop area.

Uploading Multiple Files at Once

You can drag a selection of multiple files in a single drop. Select all the files you want in your file manager (using Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click), then drag the whole selection into the browser. Each file is uploaded and processed as a separate document.

Tip: Dragging a folder directly is not supported. If you need to upload the entire contents of a folder, select all the files inside it first, then drag the selection.

Supported Drop Targets

Drag-and-drop works from any page in the application — the dashboard, the document list, a document's detail view, or any settings page. You don't need to navigate to a specific page before dropping files.

What Happens After Dropping

Dropped files go through the same processing pipeline as files uploaded via the button:

  • OCR text extraction
  • PDF/A archive copy creation
  • Automatic tag, correspondent, and document type assignment

The documents appear in your list once processing is complete. If you drop a large batch, they'll appear one by one as each finishes processing.

Browser Compatibility

Drag-and-drop upload is supported in all modern browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari). If dragging doesn't trigger a response, check that no browser extension is intercepting the drop event, and try in a different browser to rule out extension conflicts.
