Moving a Document to Trash
Essal Office uses a two-stage deletion system. When you delete a document, it moves to the trash first. It stays there until you permanently delete it or restore it. This gives you a safety net against accidental deletion.
Sending a Document to Trash
From the document detail view:
- Open the document
- Click the Delete button (bin/trash icon) in the toolbar
- Confirm the deletion
From the document list:
- Hover over the document card
- Click the delete icon
- Confirm
The document disappears from your main document list immediately and moves to the trash.
Viewing the Trash
To see documents currently in the trash:
- Click Management in the left sidebar (or look for the Trash option in the navigation)
- Select Trash
All trashed documents are listed here with the date they were deleted.
Restoring a Document from Trash
- Open the Trash view
- Find the document you want to restore
- Click Restore
The document returns to your main document list with all its original metadata intact.
Permanently Deleting a Document
To permanently delete a document and free the storage:
- Open the Trash view
- Find the document
- Click Delete permanently (or the permanent delete icon)
- Confirm
Warning: Permanent deletion cannot be undone. The document file and all its metadata are removed from Essal Office completely. Make sure you have a copy elsewhere if you may need it later.
Bulk Deleting Documents
To send multiple documents to trash at once:
- In the document list, select the documents using their checkboxes
- Open the bulk actions toolbar
- Choose Delete
All selected documents move to the trash in one action.
Who Can Delete Documents?
By default, users can delete documents they own. Users with admin permissions can delete any document. If you do not see the delete option on a document, you may not have permission to delete it — contact an admin if needed.
