# Updating Your Profile and Password

Your Essal Office account settings let you update your display name, email address, and password. These settings are personal — changes here only affect your own account.

## Accessing Your Profile Settings

1. Click your username or avatar in the top-right corner of the interface
2. Select **Profile** or **Account settings**

This opens your personal settings page.

## Updating Your Display Name

1. In your profile settings, locate the **First name** and **Last name** fields
2. Update them
3. Click **Save**

Your display name appears in document histories, notifications, and user-facing parts of the interface.

## Changing Your Email Address

1. In your profile settings, locate the **Email** field
2. Enter your new email address
3. Click **Save**

Your email address is used for password reset emails and any notifications Essal Office sends you. Keep it up to date.

> **Note:** Changing your email does not change your login username (if your username is different from your email address). If you need to change your username, contact your Essal Office administrator.

## Changing Your Password

1. In your profile settings, find the **Change password** section
2. Enter your current password
3. Enter your new password
4. Confirm the new password
5. Click **Save** or **Change password**

Your new password takes effect immediately. You will need to use it on your next login.

**Password best practices:** - Use at least 12 characters - Include a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols - Do not reuse passwords from other services - Consider using a password manager

## If You Have Forgotten Your Password

1. Go to the Essal Office login page
2. Click **Forgot password?**
3. Enter your email address
4. Check your email for a password reset link
5. Follow the link to set a new password

If you do not receive the email within a few minutes, check your spam folder. If you still cannot reset your password, contact your Essal Office administrator.

## Logging Out

To log out of Essal Office:

1. Click your username or avatar in the top-right corner
2. Select **Log out**

You are returned to the login screen. All your preferences and data remain intact for your next login.
